However, to many people the Holiday Season is a time that is laden with sorrow and heartache. Many suffer from the loss of a loved one, a torn and dysfunctional family unit, unemployment, battles with depression, physical disease, or just the loss of hope and faith in one’s life. When one loses sight of their purpose on this earth, and loses hope and faith, this is the beginning of an emotional death.

Our lives here on this earth are a part of a much larger purpose. We each have a unique and divine purpose here on this earth. We have been blessed with gifts that are meant to be shared with others. What is your gift? Your gift is something that comes easily to you and hard for others, and something that you enjoy immensely. Some people have the gift of listening, kindness, hospitality, cooking, sewing, music, writing, cleaning, organizing, or taking the time to discover your divine purpose.

Finding your divine purpose is a process and requires you to make a lifestyle change. This lifestyle change may require you to let go of some of the negative people within your life who refuse to encourage you, or believe in your dreams. I had the opportunity to listen to some of your latest Cd, and I have to say that I was completely blown away and moved. You have had some amazing things happen to you lately. Stellar Award nominee for best new artist of the year, your music is taking off here in the States as well as internationally in London. There is truly something special about your voice and songs. What inspired you to come up with the title of your album?

Marjane’: The title of the album was inspired through my personal relationship with God. When I think of all the things he has done for me it brings joy to my heart. I know I will never let go of him.

</spanCamille: Do you have any advice for singers who are trying to break into the business?

Marjane’: My advice for other singers would be to follow the leading of the Lord in all you do. Allow God to take the driver seat in your ministry. Stay focused and in communion with the Lord. There you will find everything you need. Through that special time with God the spirit of God takes reign in you and the Holy Spirit will be present in everything.

Camille: What do you like to do when you’re not singing?

Marjane’: When I am not singing I love to go to the movies and dinner.

Camille: In your opinion what makes a great song?

Marjane': The anointing is what makes a great song. Anyone can sing but it's the power of God behind it that can change someone’s life.

Camille: What was going through your mind when you first found out that you were nominated for the Stellar Awards as best new artist of the year?

Marjane': I was so excited to make the ballot for the Stellar Award. All I could do was thank God.

Camille: What was it like to be one of BET’s Sunday Best semi finalists? And how did you balance your ministry while participating in a competition?

Marjane': My experience at BET's Sunday Best was awesome !!!! It was great for exposure. I currently do not participate in competitions anymore because personally it does not make sense. How can the anointing of God compete against itself? We all have been gifted by God and it's up to us to let him make that platform.

Camille: Tell us your latest news?

Marjane’: <span style="font-style:My latest news: I am a Nominee for a 2009 London MP3 Music Award.I have also had the chance this month to do the artist showcase for the Gospel music Workshop of America in Cincinnati!

I would like to thank Marjane’ for sharing with us today, and congratulate her on her recent nomination for the London MP3 Awards! How did you start your writing journey?

Camille Kleidysz: I was born and raised in California. I moved to New York City to attend college, and that is where my writing journey began. New York City is truly my muse. The different layers and textures of the city are truly inspiring.

Ella: Who are your two main characters and what do you like most about them?

Camille: My two main characters in the Nazareth Heights series are Lacey Santiago and Adrianna Williamson. They are two best friends who named themselves the L.A. sisters in the third grade. At an early age they both loss their fathers. Lacey Santiago’s father was murdered in the Bronx when she was a young girl and Adrianna Williamson’s father was a drug addict and abandoned her when she was only eighteen months old. Through their tragic circumstances at a very young age they discovered a strong bound when they where just little girls and they became like sisters. Their loyalty to each other is beyond impressive. And beyond their friendship they are both very flawed characters, even though they are Christians, they are really confused about so many issues in their life. They are having a hard time grasping their true identity.

Ella: Ultimately, what do you want readers to gain from your book?

Camille: The main message that I am trying to convey to my reading audience is that it is not where you live, but it is how you live. The four teenagers in my book are from a very impoverished area in the inner city called Nazareth Heights. Statistics basically had already written their life’s story and it always begins like this, “inner city kids are more likely to”…. and unfortunately the word “succeed” does not follow. What follows is usually something very negative. The Faithful Four decided to take control of their destiny and set a goal for themselves to overcome their negative environment. I also would like my readers to know that there are times when you will have no one to encourage you, and that is the time when you have to encourage yourself.

Ella: What advice would you give a new writer? Would you change anything about your journey?

Camille:The advice I would give to new writers is to really have a strong creative identity. Find your unique voice. Do not look to the left or the right when you are creating. Everything that you compose should be authentic and come from your heart and soul, do not become concerned about what other authors are writing, or what is going to be popular and sell. God gave you unique stories to write. Do not be ashamed to share them.

I would not change anything about my literary journey, and it is truly a journey and a process. I have enjoyed the process because I have learned so much.

Ella: Share with us your latest news, events or upcoming book releases.

Camille: I am set to release the second installment of my inspirational novella series entitled Spiritual Eyes. I have received a great response from people that have read the novella. I’ve always wanted to write a novella, and the people that have read it loved the fact that the book is fairly short. They also fell in love with the main characters of the story Kai and Roman, and requested that I continue their relationship. So “Spiritual Eyes” is actually going to become my first Christian Fiction romance series.

I have also created an Inspirational Devotional Blog: called Guiding Light Devotionals. I love devotional books and sometimes when you're at work you cannot always crack open a book and read while your working, so I wanted to create a place where people could just click on their computer and read a quick devotional thought for the day.

Princess Of The Kingdom

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 209px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8IeC9tQ8_Gw/TH5yZCmitGI/AAAAAAAAAfs/bu0tEr47f34/s320/Princess+of+the+Kingdombook+cover.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511968768468890722" />

Statistics reveal that self-confidence and a positive body image begins to wane in preadolescent girls; unlike their male counterparts whose self-confidence begins to peek and flourish during preadolescence. Throughout the fragile adolescence stage, a girl’s identity begins to deteriorate, and her self-worth revolves around her peers, appearance, and fleeting material items. A low self- esteem can become a devastating distraction to a young woman’s life, and can result in poor performance in the class room and lack of confidence that will eventually affect her social interactions. I’ve had mixed emotions while writing Nazareth Heights Book 2. The characters have matured, and like a mother who longs to protect her children from pain and danger, I found myself becoming extremely protective of the Faithful Four.

I have made an assertive effort to shield the dynamic group of teenagers from the dangers within the Nazareth Heights community. However, within the inner city youth are often faced with many obstacles and dangerous challenges. There are concrete decisions that one must make for safety and survival.

In this narrative, the Faithful Four have matured, and I have allowed the main characters to blossom and face adversity. The Faithful Four had to endure painful and perplexing trials in Book 2. Throughout their complex life's journey; the Faithful Four remain determined to honor their childhood vow.

It is my sincere hope that you will enjoy reading this story as much as I loved composing Nazareth Heights Book 2. May God continue to bless and keep you.

Camille Kleidysz

Countdown To The Summer Release Of Nazareth Heights Book 2: AN INSPIRATIONAL SAGA ABOUT UPLIFTING AND EMPOWERING OUR GIRLS
Will Adrianna Williamson maintain her childhood vow amid heartbreak, bitter rivalries, betrayal, and an unexpected love?

After a long summer of separation the Faithful Four finally reunite at their “Dare to be a Daniel” ceremony. Although he wrote and published works representing every genre of creative literature, Countee Cullen was essentially a poet.

He soon became the most well known author in the young group of writers known as the New Negro Renaissance. His poems appeared in Vanity Fair and Harper’s magazine. Cullen’s poetry was distinguished by its intensity, passion, and the frustrations from a religious perspective of the early Black American experience. Artist Diaries is proud to celebrate the life and works of poet Countee Cullen.

Incident

Once riding in old Baltimore,
Heart-filled, head-filled with glee,
I saw a Baltimorean
Keep looking straight at me.

Now I was eight and very small,
And he was no whit bigger,
And so I smiled, but he poked out
His tongue, and called me, "Nigger."

I saw the whole of Baltimore
From May until December;
Of all the things that happened there
That's all that I remember.

-Countee Cullen

Exclusive Sneak Peak:Nazareth Heights Book2:"Summer In The Heights" Part 1

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 174px; height: 264px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8IeC9tQ8_Gw/SwCP2LzBLRI/AAAAAAAAAZM/GmU2jbBINAQ/s320/BookCoverPreview2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5404477713887079698" />

Dark, angry clouds slowly swallowed the tottering plane. The airplane began to rock, and dip against the turbulent winds. Heavy rain drops violently slammed against the windows. Adrianna’s moist cold hand quivered, and slowly slid down gripping the sides of her seat. Her eyes clasped tight, and her mouth became dry and stuck together.

She attempted to pray, but was unable to articulate a coherent prayer. Adrianna noticed the flight attendants quickly fastening their seat belts, and nervously darting their eyes.Adrianna clinched her fist and desperately searched for words to pray. She could only whisper. “Jesus…Jesus.” The searing emotions of fear and uncertainty gripped Adrianna Williamson’s mind and soul. Her thoughts immediately flooded with the terror of never reuniting with her father.

She often heard stories from her grandmother of how her father once held and sang to her as an infant. However, her memory was vacant of his touch, his expressions, and his voice. Adrianna immediately felt anger and resentment. “What kind of man are you? How could you go this long without seeing me? I’ll be sixteen soon! And…I’m a good student…I even got accepted into Langford!”

The plane immediately dropped in the air, jolting Adrianna in her seat. She was beyond frightened. Adrianna’s anger toward her father suddenly transformed into an undying and unconditional love for a man that she longed to meet.

The turbulent landing into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport set the tenor for Adrianna’s first summer in Atlanta. It was the summer of complete change. The summer Adrianna had hoped to meet her estranged father. The man who abandoned her when she was eighteen months; the man she yearned to meet throughout her entire life. The man whom she still failed to meet despite her summer vacation with her father’s parents on Cascade Road.

Once again, Samuel Williamson shattered his daughter’s heart and hopes when he failed to show up at his parent’s home to reunite with the baby he left so long ago.
Cascade Road was in complete contrast to the chaotic street life of Nazareth Heights. Her grandparents’ neighborhood was serene and pleasant. Sprawling oak trees hung over the sidewalks and front porches, shading the residents from the relentless Atlanta sun.

Bundles of colorful flowers spilled over large clay pots, and sat in the front of each porch. The elderly residents of the neighborhood would spend their lazy, hazy afternoons sitting on their porches; talking and laughing, while observing the passing cars and pedestrians.

The neighbors were always polite and took the time to make eye contact; always saying hello, while giving wide toothy grins. The families that knew the Williamson family never failed to stop Adrianna and shout, “Adrianna is that you girl? I remember you when you were just a little bitty thing. Girl… if you don’t look just like your daddy! he must of spit you right out. Your mama didn’t have nothin to do with that!”

Adrianna thought it was comforting to be surrounded by people who knew her father; but during the course of the summer the comments about her appearance, became irritating and annoying, like a virus that would not go away. Adrianna learned to smile politely, but her thoughts contradicted the pleasant expression on her face: “Don’t they have anything better to say? Don’t they realize that I’ve never even met the man? What about asking me about my grades? or where I‘m from? I’m a straight A student! I’m more than my so called father!”

Upon Adrianna’s arrival in Atlanta she never failed to e-mail Lacey and Bree, eagerly detailing every aspect of her trip. After contacting her Faithful Four Sisters, Adrianna could not wait to send an email to Terrance Francis. Terrance failed to return any of her emails. To avoid feeling hurt by Terrance’s rejection she would tell herself that all of her e-mails were delivered to his spam file.

Throughout the month of August, Bree and Lacey stopped receiving emails from Adrianna. Adrianna Williamson had become completely silent. It is at this time that Kelli acknowledged the call of a teacher on her life. She has spent the past ten years helping at risk youth and families through various programs such as; Conflict Resolution, Independent Living Mentor, Community Support Provider and ABLE/GED Instructor.

She is currently employed with Job and Family Services as an Employment Counselor.
Kelli is a faithful member of Agape Family Worship Center under the leadership of Pastor Yolanda Tolliver where she is actively involved in ministry as; Administrative Support Staff, Deaconess in Training, Helps & Hospitality Ministry, Intercessor, and Youth Sunday School teacher . She enjoys fellowship with family, friends and the body of Christ. She is also a member of the Columbus Christian Writer’s Association founded by Barbara Taylor Sanders. She has had two articles published in the online magazine First Lady Magazine and is credited as a contributing author.

She and her husband Vernon have three children whom are deeply committed to training up the way that they should go.

Camille Kleidysz:Welcome to Artist Diaries! give us a brief synopsis of “You Said You Loved Me".

Kelli Bolton: "You Said You Loved Me" addresses the issue of teen dating and domestic violence. I use the church as my foundation,
as this issue is a growing problem and more so now in the church. Kayla Michaels is a fun, feisty and pretty girl entering her freshman year in high school. She has had some changes within the past six months and Mark Parks is one of them, until they have a fight and she is required to attend domestic violence and anger management classes.

Camille: Describe the main characters of your book, and which one of the characters are your favorite and why?

Kelli Bolton: Kayla Michaels and Mark Parks are the teenage couple everyone is talking about. Their fighting and lack of "love" or respect for one another has friends, family and the school principal concerned. Valerie Michaels (Kayla's mother) is one you have to see for yourself (I don't want to give the story away). The staff at Virtue Christian Academy are caring Christian people that take the time to mold character, integrity and respect in the students. Mr. Chase-school principal, Ms.Simmons-9th grade school counselor, Mrs.Grace-Bible Class teacher and Mrs. Rivers the school secretary. Mr. Anderson of the community center is very supportive and helpful with the youth as well.

Camille: The young adult genre is truly near and dear to my heart. It takes a lot of time and effort to write a book and I can tell you, I would not write if it were not for the youth of this country. The youth in this country are in a battle for their very lives, and they desperately need positive and inspirational entertainment. Why did you choose the genre of young adult as an author, and what is the message that you would like to convey to your reading audience?

Kelli Bolton: I chose this genre because there is so much information (media) targeted to them from books, clothes, music, technology- T.V.
I wanted to show that love does not hurt and just because a person says that they love you doesn't give them the right to put their hands on you or vice versa. God gives a perfect example of love in 1 Cor. 13:4-8 what love should and should not be. To walk in love is a process and no "reality show" can perfect it in 30 minutes.

Camille: When did you consider yourself a writer?

Kelli Bolton: I considered myself a writer when completing this writing project. I was overwhelmed with the other duties of my life, that I simply put my writing aside for one week to take care of the things that needed my immediate attention. When I went back to my writing it was like I never missed a beat. More of the story came together and flowed so smoothly I had to make myself take a break, it took two and half months to complete and I am excited.

Camille: What inspired you to write your book?

Kelli Bolton: The thing that inspired me to write my book was the recent events Chris Brown and Rhianna among other well known Christian men and women involved domestic violent situations. There was so much to be said about the young couple, but sadly this issue is rarely addressed in the church. I didn't want young people hearing about these stories to think that if someone says that "I love you" that it is okay for them to put their hands on them.
As I researched organizations that provided support to survivors of domestic violence, there were very few view supported by the Christian Church and those that are, don't have enough support to let people know the church does care and want to help them.

Camille: What are you reading now?

Kelli Bolton: I just finished a book by Sharon Draper titled "Double Dutch" I absolutely loved it. The story involves some eight grade kids who are on a double Dutch team. Two of the members have secrets that could cause them trouble if anyone finds out. It deals with trust, learning difficulties and prejudices that youth believe about one another.

Camille: When did your interest in writing begin?

Kelli Bolton: I would have to say my interest in writing started in eighth grade when some friends and I wrote a story. We shared our thoughts with one another and then just wrote whatever came to us. I had fun letting my mind run wild. As a teen and young adult I kept a journal to tell about my life and the interesting and not so interesting things going on. Since 2003 I have received three prophesies regarding writing. So I just write whatever the Lord puts on my heart to share with others.

Camille: Thank you for sharing with us today, tell us where we can purchase “You Said You Loved Me"?

Kelli Bolton: Due to some medical issues with my publisher my release date has been put on hold. If you would like to read my book
please log onto worthyofpublishing.com - click on spiritual or young adult and look for the title. I have the first four chapters available to readers to read and rate. I will keep you updated with the release date and where you may purchase it.

Camille: Complete this sentence, I am blessed because….

Kelli Bolton: I am blessed because God has chosen me to touch the lives of many who have ever questioned their walk with God or if God even cares about them. He has allowed me to encourage and help those who are hurting through my writing. It blesses me to see others receive from God what they were seeking.

Camille: I would like to thank author Kelli Bolton for sharing with us today. Her book addresses the ever increasing problem of physical abuse among our youth. I was first introduced to you and your book “The Ups and Downs Of Being Round” on the author’s network Goodreads. And the title immediately caught my attention… I just had to know what your book was all about. Give us a brief synopsis of “The Ups and Downs of Being Round”?

Monica Marie Jones: The Ups and Downs of Being Round is a coming of age story about a girl who struggles throughout her life with issues of weight. Overweight as a child, Madison Jenson struggles with teasing and physical limitations until she loses the weight during her adolescent years. Just as she begins to enjoy life as a slim girl she gains the weight back during her college years. Finally, being fed up with being unhappily overweight, she loses it again as a young adult, but to her surprise she loses a lot more than just the weight and finds out that physical weight loss does not guarantee happiness.

Camille: In addition to being an author you are also the host of “Marketing and Motivation Mondays with Monica Marie Jones” on the Michigan Literary Network Radio. Tell us about your literary show.

Monica Marie Jones: On Marketing and Motivation Monday's with Monica Marie Jones I teach listeners how to market their books, services and products on a tight budget or for FREE!
On each show I feature Book Marketing on a Budget tips, resources and interviews with authors, poets, journalists and marketing professionals who are making it happen. I also share tips on how to stay motivated when you feel yourself frustrated or losing momentum. The show airs every second and fourth Monday at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/michiganliterarynetwork

Camille: You are also a professional trained dancer! And you have had the amazing opportunity to tour with Dorinda Clarke –Cole and Ki-Ki Sheard! What was that like? And how do you balance all of your gifts?

Monica Marie Jones: Just when I thought that my dancing career had come to an end, I was given the awesome opportunity to dance and travel with Evangelist Dorinda Clark-Cole. It was an amazing and life changing experience.

Shortly thereafter I had the opportunity to audition to dance with Kierra "Ki-Ki" Sheard on her three city tour in Japan. At the time Ki-Ki was only 19 years old and the other dancer was 18 years old. I was 28 years old but I did not let that deter me. I danced with the energy and passion of an 18 year old and I was chosen to go on the tour. We did several concerts over ten days in Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo, Japan.

As my literary career continues to grow in leaps and bounds I have found it increasingly difficult to balance all of my gifts. As a result, I have taken a leave of absence from dancing in order to focus on my writing and speaking. I am still involved in the praise dance community by supporting and volunteering when I can.

Camille: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Monica Marie Jones: I first considered myself a writer when my short story, "Okay to Be Me" was chosen to be published in Chicken Soup for the Girls Soul in 2005. I got a letter saying, "Congratulations! You are an author!!" From that moment on I felt unstoppable.

Camille: Are experiences in your book based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Monica Marie Jones:The experiences in my book are based on my life and my observations of others. I have always struggled with gaining and losing weight and self-esteem issues. During the process of writing the book I researched health, fitness and weight loss. As a result I made a healthy lifestyle change and lost 65 pounds and over 50 inches. I took the lessons that I learned and weaved them throughout the book.

Camille: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

Monica Marie Jones: Ever since I was a little girl I have used writing as a tool to process my emotions and cope with difficult situations. I always kept a journal and loved to create my own books out of card board, construction paper and yarn. I never thought about sharing any of my work until I let a few people read it and I realized how it evoked emotions in them. It was then that I realized that I was meant to share my gift with the world.

Camille: How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

Monica Marie Jones: I have written four books and my favorite is the most recent, "SWAG" because I really feel like I have grown as a writer and other than the editing and the cover design I did this one all on my own.

Camille: Tell us your latest news?

Monica Marie Jones: My Latest news is that my new novel, SWAG is set to be released on September 25, 2009. Also, some of my work has also been chosen to be published in The Souls of Our Young Sisters: The Next Generation of Women Tell Their Stories, Overcome Their Challenges, and Heal Their Spirits (Souls of My Sisters Inc./Kensington Publishing Corp.) anthology in March 2010.

Camille: Thank you for sharing with us today, tell us where we can purchase “The Ups and Downs of Being Round"?

Monica Marie Jones: You can purchase the paperback or the eBook versions of The Ups and Downs of Being Round on my website at http://www.monicamariejones.com/products.htm

Camille: Complete this sentence I am blessed because….

Monica Marie Jones: I am blessed because I am perusing my passion and walking in my purpose.

I would like to thank author Monica Marie Jones for sharing with us today. “The Ups and Downs of Being Round” is a wonderful book to share with a young woman who is struggling with her identity and purpose.
Look for her upcoming urban fiction release SWAG September 25th!

Until the next Artist Diaries…..Peace and Blessings Camille Kleidysz.

Artist Diaries Presents Christian Rap/Spoken Word Artist Godswriter!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8IeC9tQ8_Gw/Sns148GC0yI/AAAAAAAAAWg/ObESixKAWoU/s400/Onyi_155album+cover1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366942633262502690" />

Born & raised in Nigeria, first born of Olanrewaju and Adedayo Osinowo - GodsWriter - (Olanrewaju,Osinowo II) also known as Timothy or Junior among his peers, found a strong love and desire towards the Arts at the age of 10. Timothy moved to the states with his family at the age of 12. His first poem was written at the age of 15 for a NAACP poetry competition. Overtime, he has branched into the spoken word, poetry, play write, music, and acting genre.

On March 3, 2003, Timothy re-dedicated his Life to Christ; this enabled him to fully re-dedicate the talent/passion back to God the Creator that deposited the gift in him. During his metamorphosis the name 'GodsWriter' was adopted, signifying that he was done writing for self and or self glorification, but now writing for God so that man can truly see how Glorious the Almighty really is. (Matthew 5: 16)

GodsWriter is currently involved in a Christian music project "DECLARE" debuted to be released on August 16th 2009. He has been inspired by the likes of those who seek Gods Heart, and truly live a lifestyle of worship. Timothy Osinowo believes that without God, he is nothing. So he prays that God will continue to make him a blessing as his steps are ordered in the path of his destiny.

Welcome to Artist Diaries! What was the inspiration for this album?

Seeing people start to doubt, and compromise their faith in Christ. Conforming to what the world believes in, instead of standing bold and in confidence declaring who they are in Christ Jesus. We need to know our worth, our credentials, and who we are in Christ Jesus.

Is there a message in your songs that you would like for your audience to grasp?

The message: It is time for an awakening in and outside the body of Christ. To the Believers: Showing us to stop claiming, but to be Christ-like (Christians), to walk in His Godliness. The bible says we are salt of the earth and the light to the world. But some of us are still confined to the four walls of the church, when we are supposed to be on the field planting, sowing and harvesting souls for His Kingdom…

To the Unbelievers: It is an important invitation, that shows that God still loves you and still cares about you. My prayer is as you listen, there will be a convicting awakening within that will unveil your heart to realize that it is not by power, nor by might, but by His Grace that you are still here today. It’s not too late for there is still breath within you. So there is still hope, but please, act now and receive Christ, because time is of the essence.

What music artist have most influenced your life and sound?

My influence is the Holy Spirit; the one who I look at as a music artist role model is Emmanuel Lambert Jr. “DA T.R.U.T.H”

When did you first consider yourself a singer?

I am really not a singer; I am actually a poet. I started writing poems at the age of 15 for a NAACP poetry competition in 1998. My mother took me to go register a month towards the competition. Upon getting there, I noticed there were a lot of genres available i.e. dance, instruments, singing, etc. I knew I couldn't dance, sing, nor play an instrument, so I chose what I presumed the easiest of them all which was poetry. A week towards the event, I still did not have a word on paper. Five days to the competition, I went to God in prayer to ask for help. I went to bed that night, and woke up the next morning with a poem in my head. I quickly wrote it on paper as the thoughts were coming, and I have been writing ever since then. That morning was when I first noticed that the gift to write had been unlocked.

Do you have a specific vocal style?

People say grimy best fits my vocal style. I personally believe it is how I am led to lay the lyrics on the beat produced. If you listen to the album, you will hear grimy, you will hear a soft feel; you will hear pure spoken word. Some have even said I need to find one voice or one vocal style, but honestly I believe this is how God is using me, and I submit myself to Him to use my voice in whatever style He pleases.

How did you come up with the title of your CD?

Wow! DECLARE. I heard the word while I was in church Sunday morning early January of 2009. I went home and pondered, and prayed on it, and the title seemed to be what is needed in this world today. It is time for us Christians to stop sleeping, and wake up. It is time for us Christians to stop compromising our faith. It is time to take a stand for the God we serve. But the interesting thing is, how can we take a stand for the God we serve, if we don’t know our credentials or who we are in the God that we serve? If you do not know your worth, you can easily be persuaded to sell yourself short of what you are worth.

Now Jesus Christ came and died and paid the price for us on the cross. He bought us with His blood…meaning; in Christ Jesus we are priceless. So when temptation, sickness, and everything this world has to offer comes our way to purchase us back into the world, we say NO!! Why, because there is no price or amount of pleasure in this world that is worth the price or pleasure of our Lord Jesus Christ. In doing this, we DECLARE. In knowing, we are able to declare, in declaring we are conquerors. We don’t only declare by standing up for Christ, but also in the lifestyle we live. We need to live a lifestyle of worship, a lifestyle that shows the characteristics of Christ. DECLARE also lets the world know that we are born with a purpose. DECLARE lets the world know there is more to life than the good morals, the fame, and all the pleasures of this world. The more to it is coming into the Body of Christ. Only by this can we truly be complete.

If you had to choose, which singer would you consider a mentor?

Singer: Israel Houghton
Rapper: Emmanuel Lambert Jr. “DA T.R.U.T.H”

What music are you listening to now?

IGWE by Midnight Crew

Are there any new vocal artists that have grasped your interest?

Mali Music – Brother is truly gifted in the Lord, and anointed with the total package.

Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members?

God is always there.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything about your latest project?

If I had to do it all over again, I would not change anything about my latest project.
Because it wasn’t me, it was He. I only pray that God will continue to increase in me and continue to grant me the grace to spread His word to those in need of it.

Do you have to travel much concerning your music?

I really haven’t traveled much except going to different churches and events within Houston and San Antonio area to minister. With the album coming out August 16th, there is no telling how far God will take the ministry… I’m super excited!!!!

What was the hardest part of producing your album?

I was in school, working, involved in my other passion; acting, and still working on the album. Financing was another, due to me being an independent artist. It was tough, but when God has called you to do something, He always provides a way for you. Seek Him first and everything else will be added unto you.

Did you learn anything from your new solo project and what was it?

I have learnt that there truly is nothing impossible with God. I also learnt that prayer is the ultimate key. I learnt not move without God, to take time to listen to what He has to tell me, not just me asking the questions. Last but not least, to stand bold, and Declare who I am in Christ Jesus.

Do you have any advice for other singers?

A few artists are a bit fearful of going forth in the ministry they have been called into, due to their environment and or finances…especially for independent artists. The best advice I can give is to base all you do in the Lord. When your foundation is rooted in the word of God, you have nothing to fear. He will make a way where there is no way. Just make sure you seek Him first in all that you do. And as far as the talent/gift He has given you, continue to sharpen it, practice, learn new ways of challenging yourself, do not limit yourself. People say sky is the limit, but have a new perception, and start saying God is the limit. With God being the limit, there is no place far beyond your imagination He can take you.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your fans?

I am just a vessel, God is the Super-Star! But all in all, I am truly grateful to all that have supported, encouraged, prayed and interceded for me. Please continue to pray for me, continue to pray for the ministry. This is more than just music. The music is just a modem used to carry out His Good News, used to carry out His seed of love, and of salvation. I love you all, but God loves you more with a love that surpasses all understanding. Kai suddenly finds her self in the face of adversity when she has a life altering encounter with a man whom she despises on the happiest day of her life. Kai Valentine's chance meeting with Roman, an infamous neighborhood gangster, forces her to implement the Biblical principal of “love thy neighbor” and challenges her faith and perception of the frail human condition. Will Kai Valentine’s life ever be the same after her unexpected encounter with Roman?

Excerpt From Spiritual Eyes Volume I

The air was thick and chilly with a bitter wind that slapped against Kai’s face. She scurried down the subway stairs, thankful to finally escape the cutting gust of winds.
The thick crowds of the underground disappeared, leaving the subway station distinctly desolate. An awkward silence clung to her in the depths of the chilly underground.
Kai could only hear the vibrant rhythm of her heeled boots beating against the cold pavement.
She finally spotted a lone commuter standing at the end of the platform, wearing a black beret and a smooth, velvet pea coat. Kai rushed to stand next to the chic passenger, but her efforts to join the woman were quickly intercepted when the Uptown train soared into the station, thrusting an icy breeze against her cheeks.
Kai slowly boarded the train and immediately felt uncomfortable. She was surrounded by vacant seat and longed to hear the comforting buzz of conversation.
Kai gently leaned her head against the window and began nodding in and out of sleep until she reached the 125th Street station. A cluster of people pushed their way through the subway doors. Kai began to feel at ease and relieved to see a small crowd of people board the train.
She slowly closed her eyes once again, when suddenly, a turbulent noise forced her sluggish eyelids to pop open. Kai immediately straightened her back and directed her gaze towards the jolting sound.
A tall and compelling man violently thrust his arm through the doors, forcing the subway doors to suddenly snatch open.
His dark leather coat draped freely over his statuesque frame, and a brown leather hat shaded his piercing eyes.
He broke the unspoken rule of the city and proceeded to make eye contact with Kai.
She immediately felt violated and strange. Kai quickly turned her head towards the window and stared intensely into the glass.
Without looking into his eyes, she continued to feel the man’s penetrating glare; his essence felt familiar as if she once knew him.
The train finally rolled into the 145th Street station. When Kai finally emerged from the underground, fierce winds greeted her once again, stinging her cheeks and ears.
She continued to walk along the slushy sidewalk until she reached the corner of Amsterdam Street.
Kai began to hear the sound of heavy footsteps following her, and she immediately began to pray.

“Dear God, please…please protect me…place Your hedge around me…You have always walked with me in this big city continue to walk with me now.”

“Miss!” The man shouted with a husky tone. Kai Valentine hastened her pace and continued to walk without turning around. Her walk suddenly turned into a slow jog.
“Miss…please…wait, I’m not going to hurt you!” The man’s sluggish steps became rapid, and she could clearly hear him running directly behind her. Kai’s heart began leaping within her chest; she struggled to breathe. As she continued running down the sidewalk, the icy air felt as if it were choking her with each step. The man wearing the leather coat and hat finally reached Kai.
“Excuse me, miss…I’m sorry…I’m not trying to hurt you… I promise…but don’t you know Roman?” Kai’s steps became frozen, and her heart continued to beat frantically. She felt excited to hear the mention of Roman’s name, yet scared to admit that she knew of Roman. This man was a stranger to Kai, and she knew that if she revealed anything about Roman to the wrong person, her carelessness could lead to severe consequences. Kai remained silent.
“He wants you to have this.” The cryptic man shoved a thin, sealed envelope in Kai’s hand and immediately slipped away into the darkness.

Nazareth Heights: The Adventures of Adrianna Williamson

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 202px; height: 220px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8IeC9tQ8_Gw/Sm489ZDVVqI/AAAAAAAAAUs/3a1G3Sk-D9A/s320/new3%5B2%5D_trailer.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5363291231639393954" />

Nazareth Heights is a series of inspirational novels for young adults, following the lives of four amazing teenagers from adolescence until their adulthood.

Adrianna Williamson, Lacey Santiago, Breeana Cruz, and Terrance Francis reside in Nazareth Heights ; a violent and challenging borough of the city. Look me in my face when I'm calling you. What's the matter you can't hear? or are you just as stupid and retarded as you look?"Braxton Hill held her balled fist in the air, viciously mouthing the words, "you and me at three o'clock! You're going to wish you never messed with what's mine!"Fear paralyzed Adrianna's entire body, her stomach began to twist and ache. Adrianna wanted to run, but her legs felt heavy and numb preventing her from escaping Braxton's malicious threats. Adrianna stood frozen against her locker continuing to stare into the sea of rushing students. A conniving smirk spread across Braxton's mouth. She quickly spun around and walked away with her signature sassy strut.Adrianna's eyes slowly followed Braxton's rhythmic steps until her figure disappeared into the crowd. Adrianna suddenly buckled over, grasping her throat and desperately panting for air. She struggled to stand. Her short shallow breaths immediately became deep and fluent when she recognized a welcome sight in the distance.

NOW AVAILABLE ON AMAZON!
